Skype is a hugely popular tool, particularly with people who need to call different countries or timezones cheaply: it has\u00a0300 million monthly active users<\/a>. Although you might think of Skype primarily as a way to make video or audio calls,\u00a0Skype also offers text chat \u2013 which can be very useful if someone wants to share content with someone they\u2019re talking to on Skype.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\u00a0Skype Share Button<\/a>\u00a0lets your website visitors quickly and easily share a link to your blog posts (or your product pages, details of your services, or any other content on your site). They can simply click the Share button to share to Skype instantly.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Why would someone share my content on Skype?<\/a>

You might think that adding a Skype share button to your site could be a little odd, as Skype isn\u2019t exactly a social network in the way that sites like Facebook and Twitter are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But Skype is used a lot for one-to-one and small group conversations\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 and if someone wants to share a link to your site with one or more of their Skype contacts, the easiest way for them to do so will be by clicking a share button on your site. That way, they don\u2019t have to open up Skype and paste in the link.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

How do I find someone on Skype?<\/a>

If you want to connect with someone on Skype, you can do so in two ways.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Method #1: Find them by searching Skype<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Skype app, go to Contacts then \u201cAdd a new contact.\u201d Type in the name of the person you\u2019re trying to find.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You will see the name of the person, their Skype username, their profile photo (if they\u2019ve uploaded one) and their location (if they\u2019ve listed this).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scroll through the list until you find the right person, then click the \u201cAdd\u201d button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It can be tricky to find people through this method, as it\u2019s a little like looking through a huge phone directory. If your friend has a fairly common name, you might struggle to locate them \u2013 and if they haven\u2019t uploaded a profile photo or set their location, it\u2019s going to be pretty much impossible to find them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Method #2: Ask them for their Skype Name<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A simpler way to find someone is to ask them for their Skype Name (or username). This might be something like\u00a0johnsmith72<\/em>. Type this into the \u201cAdd a new contact\u201d search, and it should bring up just one result: your friend.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

How do I find out my Skype Name?<\/a>

If you want to send someone your Skype Name so they can connect with you, you\u2019ll need to know where to find it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Your Skype Name (which some people call your Skype Username or Skype ID) is your unique identifier on Skype.\u00a0<\/strong>You can find it by going to Settings then \u201cAccount & Profile\u201d. It\u2019ll be listed next to \u201cSkype Name\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
